2010 Writers and Producer's Guild award nominations--predictions and results

The real beginning of the Oscar season kicks off later today with the announcement of both the Producer's Guild and Writer's Guild nominations, which usually match up to the Academy's eventual wrap-up list. But, for the Writer's Guild, maybe the simiarities won't show this year. This is because so many titles-- The King's Speech, Toy Story 3, Another Year, Winter's Bone, Never Let Me Go, Scott Pilgrim and The Ghost Writer among them--are ineligible for the guild's award, probably because the authors are not part of the WGA. So, as far as the WGA goes, this is going to make for a very interesting list that you can bet your knickers won't be repeated by a starlet and the Academy president come nomination morn. Anyway, here are my predictions for the Writer's Guild nominees:

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:
Black Swan (Story by Andres Heinz; screenplay by Mark Heyman, Andres Heinz, and John J. McLaughlin)
The Fighter (Story by Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson & Keith Dorrington; screenplay by Scott Silver and Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson
Greenberg (Story by Jennifer Jason Leigh and Noah Baumbach; screenplay by Noah Baumbach)
Inception (Written by Christopher Nolan)
The Kids are All Right (Written by Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg)

OUT OF LEFT FIELD?:
Please Give (Written by Nicole Holofcener)

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:
127 Hours (Adapted by Danny Boyle and Simon Beaufoy, based on the memoir Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston)
Rabbit Hole (Adapted by David Lindsay-Abaire, based on his play)
The Social Network (Adapted by Aaron Sorkin, based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich)
The Town (Adapted by Peter Craig and Ben Affleck & Aaron Stockard, based on the novel Prince of Thieves by Chuck Hogan)
True Grit (Adapted by Joel and Ethan Coen, based on the novel by Charles Portis)

OUT OF LEFT FIELD?: Let Me In (Adapted by Matt Reeves, based on the screenplay and novel Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist)
